Fortress Hohensalzburg is not only an important historical landmark of the city of Salzburg, but also offers exciting experiences for children and families: from entertaining guided tours for the whole family to fun children's birthday parties and varied vacation programs.
Please note: Some areas of the fortress are not accessible with a stroller!

Public guided tours for families
There are regular public guided tours of Fortress Hohensalzburg for the whole family with children from the age of 5. Current dates and topics can be found in our calendar of events.
Individual guided tours for families
Would you like to explore Fortress Hohensalzburg and its exciting history(ies) together with your children in a small group? Then perhaps an individual guided tour is just the thing for you. You can book four different individual family tours of Fortress Hohensalzburg all year round.
- Age: for children aged 5 and over
- Duration: approx. 60 minutes
- Cost: € 75,- flat rate for max. 10 people (for each additional child € 4,- for each additional adult € 7,50)
- Participants: If there are more than 25 participants, the group will be split.

Enjoy an unforgettable birthday party with your friends!
How about a GeBURGstag for once? A birthday party at the castle? And this is how your fortress party will go: after the birthday child and guests have met up with our guide in the old town just behind the cathedral, we will first conquer the fortress hill together. On the way, we will explore hidden nooks and crannies of the fortress. Because your guide has keys to doors where no one else is allowed in! What do you feel like doing then? Fun games of skill? Would you like to go on a treasure hunt? Or would you like to play out scenes from old sagas and legends in costume? There are various themes to choose from for a children's birthday party at the fortress.
